The electrophoretic mobilities (EPMs) of a number of
Escherichia coli O157:H7 and wild-type E. coli
strains were measured. The effects of pH and ionic strength on the EPMs
were investigated. The EPMs of E. coli O157:H7 strains
differed from those of wild-type strains. As the suspension pH
decreased, the EPMs of both types of strains increased.
