Biomass yield (Yx/s [grams of biomass per gram of glucose]) ethanol yield (Ye/s [grams of ethanol per gram of glucose]) and glycerol yield (Ygly/s [grams of glycerol per gram of glucose]) were determined after glucose depletion. Trehalose and glycogen (percentage of dry weight) were measured at the time of harvesting and initiation of starvation. Fermentative capacity prior to starvation (millimoles of ethanol per gram of dry weight per hour) was determined at the time of harvesting and initiation of starvation.
